Kevin Love scored 20 to lead the Timberwolves, who have lost three of four to begin their season and have dropped 14 straight on the road dating back to last season. Wesley Johnson and Sebastian Telfair each had 13 points, while Nikola Pekovic scored 12 with eight rebounds in defeat.
"(Miami goes) on these incredible runs," said Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis. "They have players that can make plays, and they do a good job of creating shots for other teammates. They have individual players that are just incredibly hard to defend."
Michael Beasley returned to Miami for the first time since an offseason trade and scored 11 points in 11 minutes. Beasley, however, left the game in the second quarter with a bruised hip and did not return. His status for tonight's contest is unknown.
According to a Knicks press release, some debris from the attic above the ceiling fell into the arena. Part of that debris included asbestos-related cleaning materials.
"We will be working with the city and independent experts, ATC Associates and GCI Environmental Advisory, to evaluate and determine the most appropriate course of action," the Knicks stated. "As the safety of our customers and employees are our top priority, we will not reopen the Garden until we are absolutely assured the arena is safe."
Orlando hasn't hit the hardwood since an embarrassing 96-70 loss to Miami last Friday. The Heat showed what they are capable of against an Eastern Conference powerhouse in that one as Dwyane Wade led the way with 26 points in a thorough drubbing of the Magic.
Howard battled foul trouble in the second half and finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for Orlando, which pounded Washington in its season opener last Thursday.
"Our offense in general, other than [Howard] in the post, wasn't good," said Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy. "Their defense was very good, but I think when the defense is good our passing problems become evident. I thought our passing was horrendous tonight."
Orlando swingman Vince Carter had to exit in the third quarter against the Heat with a back injury after logging just four points. He is probable for tonight.
The Magic have swept the home-and-home series over Minnesota in each of the past two seasons.
