Childress also had this profound quote regarding Favre’s decision.

“You’re either all in or not all in,” Childress said. “That’s wherein the decision lies.”

Brett Favre, Brad Childress Didn't Talk About A Deadline During Mississippi Meeting

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress was in Hattiesburg, Miss., to meet with Vikings quarterback Brett Favre earlier this week, but they reportedly didn’t talk about Favre’s plans for the future.

Favre talked to USA Today about the meeting, but insists that he’s made no decision on whether to return to Minnesota next season.

“The deadline? I don’t know,‘’ Favre said. "There obviously comes a point where you’ve probably gone too far, where you just have to move on. He hopes I make the right decision for myself — one way or the other. Our visit was great. I think the world of him (and) his patience."

Favre also discussed how his ankle, the reason that his professional football future is in doubt, has been healing.

“After almost nine weeks, it’s not where I would like it to be, but I’m working at it,‘’ he said. "Maybe it never gets to where I want it to be. Forty years old … three surgeries … that’s all you need to know.’’

The Vikings open training camp July 30 with their season opener happening September 9 in New Orleans.

Vikings Coach Brad Childress In Mississippi To Meet With Brett Favre

Brad Childress has reportedly flown down to Brett Favre’s hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss., to meet with the Minnesota Vikings quarterback.

The local NBC affiliate, WDAM, was the first to break the story.

Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress is in Hattiesburg today apparently trying to find out if his star quarterback is coming back.

Childress and Brett Favre were both seen Monday morning at The University of Southern Mississippi’s 7-on-7 passing camp for area high school athletes.

Childress would not comment on camera about his visit but said, “You can fill in the blanks.”

This will more than likely be drawn out through training camp, but it’s a start.

Brett Favre Again Practicing With Mississippi High School Team

Brett Favre hasn’t told the Vikings if he will play this season but he continues to go about his business as if he has every intention of honoring the second year of his contract according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The latest indication has been the fact Favre has been throwing to wide receivers at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Miss. Favre did the same thing last year as he attempted to decide whether to join the Vikings.

Favre, who underwent ankle surgery in May so that he could possibly return to the Vikings next season, seems to be enjoying a full recovery.

According to (Oak Grove High School Coach Nevil) Barr, Favre began making occasional appearances at the high school to throw shortly after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle in late May.

“His arm is great like always,” Barr told the Star Tribune. “As far as how his ankle is I haven’t heard him say anything about it. We don’t ask him a whole lot on that.”

Favre 'Would Love to Beat the Saints'

The doubts as to whether Brett Favre is coming back are getting less and less as the month of June winds down. On Thursday, No. 4 told the Biloxi Sun-Herald that he would love to beat the New Orleans Saints, the team that Minnesota should have beaten in the NFC Championship Game last season.

In a Thursday morning interview with Sun Herald sports writer Al Jones, Favre, who had just finished an 8-mile bicycle ride, said: ‘‘I would love to go beat the Saints. I know I can still play at a high level. Last year was a great year, but it could have been better (winning NFC Championship).’’

Favre also said his ankle is healing on schedule.

He’s coming back. This isn’t a surprise to anybody who’s been paying attention.

Lions Tackle Jon Jansen Says Favre Will Return

First it was one of Brett Favre’s teammates that thought he would return to play football next year. Now a division opponent agrees.

In an NFL.com video, Detroit Lions offensive tackle Jon Jansen expressed his belief that Favre would return to play football for the Minnesota Vikings next season after undergoing ankle surgery this offseason. Jansen told NFL Network analyst Rich Eisen “I don’t think there’s any question” that Favre will return. Here’s a link to the video.

Allen Thinks Favre Is Coming Back

Put Jared Allen firmly into the camp of those that believe Brett Favre will, indeed, be quarterbacking the Minnesota Vikings this season.

“If I was a betting man, and I had to put money on it today, absolutely,” Allen said Thursday when asked on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000 if he thinks Favre will return. "I hope if the answer was no, he would have already had the wherewithal to tell us that he’s not coming back so we could have done something in free agency.

“But again, the man’s earned the right to do what he pleases. He hasn’t let anybody down yet, so I’m not here to start harping on it yet.”

Frankly, that’s as strong an indication as any that Favre wants to play. If he had zero interest in playing next season, then he a) wouldn’t have signed a two-year deal with the Vikings prior to last year, and b) would have told Brad Childress something already so the Vikings could have prepared for that contingency.

Just more reason to believe that #4 will be behind center in 2010, leading the Vikings to a third consecutive NFC North championship.

Report: Favre Ankle Surgery A Success, Decision On Future Awaits

Judd Zulgad of StarTribune.com writes that Brett Favre's recent ankle surgery came off without a hitch but a decision on Favre's future is still a few weeks out.

Orthopedic surgeon James Andrews told the Associated Press on Wednesday there were no problems with the arthroscopic procedure, which removed scar tissue and bone spurs from Favre's ankle.

"It went fine,'' Andrews said after speaking at a luncheon at the Charlotte Touchdown Club. "He's rehabbing and trying to decide what he's going to do. I talked to him yesterday.

"We've got a few more weeks of rehabbing. I think he hasn't decided yet what he wants to do.''
