Preview: Twins Look to Extend Home Winning Streak

Carl Pavano picked up only his second win since May 13  as he pitched eight solid innings to help the Twins defeat the Kansas City Royals 6-2 on Wednesday night at Target Field.

The victory helped Pavano to get his record back to .500 on the year, as he now has six wins to go with six losses.  He scattered six hits in his eight innings of work, and big Jon Rauch came on to pitch a scoreless ninth inning for your American League Central leaders.

The Minnesota offensive attack was steady, with their six runs coming from individual tallies in six different innings.  Minnesota scored in every inning in this game except the first and the fifth.  Delmon Young started the Twins' scoring with a home run to left field off of Royals' starter Kyle Davies with two out in the second.  Five different players were credited with RBIs tonight for the Twins.

Minnesota will go for the three-game sweep of the Royals at Target Field at 7:10 PM.  The pitching match-up will see journeyman Bruce Chen (2-0, 2.95 ERA, but only 2 starts in 12 games) take the hill for the Royals and Scott Baker (5-4, 4.52 ERA in 12 starts) toe the rubber for the Twins.

Head on over to Twinkie Town for more coverage of tonight's game and all the best Twins news and commentary.
