In one of the bigger embarrassments of the Tim Brewster era. . .which is saying something. . .the Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the Coyotes of South Dakota on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 41-38.
Minnesota’s defense had no answer for South Dakota quarterback Dante Warren, who played a hand in five of the six touchdowns scored by the Coyotes this afternoon. He racked up 352 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air, and threw in 81 yards on ten carries and two more scores on the ground. All in all, the Gophers allowed 444 yards to their FCS opponent on the afternoon.
Adam Weber had a decent enough afternoon throwing the ball, completing 21 of 31 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. However, he had two costly fumbles that resulted in turnovers. Duane Bennett also asserted himself well, rushing for 104 yards on 15 carries and finding the end zone twice.
The Gophers are 1-1 after this loss, and will host a humble little football program from the University of Southern California next week.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are trailing the Coyotes of South Dakota at halftime of their game at TCF Bank Stadium by a score of 21-10.
Minnesota appeared to be driving at the end of the first half, but Gophers' quarterback Adam Weber fumbled the ball away near midfield, and the Coyotes recovered.
We will continue following this game as it progresses.
