Vikings Trade Backup QB Sage Rosenfels To Giants

On Thursday night we noted that the Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress named Tarvaris Jackson the team's backup quarterback.

On Friday, Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com reports that the Minnesota Vikings have traded quarterback Sage Rosenfels to the New York Giants.

A source told FOXSports.com that Minnesota has traded quarterback Sage Rosenfels to the Giants, in addition to running back/punt returner Darius Reynaud, in exchange for an undisclosed pick in the 2011 NFL draft as well as a conditional pick in the 2010 draft.

Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com reports further details of the move.

With Rosenfels in New York, Joe Webb should safely make the Vikings roster as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson. Webb is the only Vikings quarterback that has a contract past 2010.

The Vikings confirmed the move. They also sent running back Darius Reynaud with Rosenfels in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice in the 2011 NFL Draft and a conditional draft choice in the 2012 NFL Draft.
