Mikko Koivu Injury: Forward Doubtful For Edmonton Game

Stay connected for news and updates

Minnesota forward Mikko Koivu has been placed on injured reserved and is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Edmonton Oilers. Koivu, who has already missed four straight games and serves as Minnesota's captain, can play, but his placement on injured reserve allows Minnesota to recall another forward from Houston for tonight's game:

Koivu will be placed on injured reserve so they can recall a to-be-determined player. However, because it's retroactive to last Wednesday, if Koivu feels he can play vs. the Oilers, he can be activated and a player can be reassigned.

Jeff Taffe is the recall. He had two assists, plus-3 and four shots in the last 2 Wild wins.

Koivu has eight goals and 20 assists so far for the Wild this season as their top center on the first line. His presence on the ice has been greatly missed, as the Wild have now lost five straight heading into their game with Edmonton on Thursday.
