So sayeth the folks at 1500 ESPN. The Twins just had their first full-team workout of spring training today, but that didn’t stop Ron Gardenhire from designating Pavano and his late mustache as the starter when the 2011 campaign opens on April 1.
The choice comes as a mild surprise since many view Francisco Liriano as the Twins’ ace. But Pavano did sign a two-year contract extension last month and led the team in innings pitched in 2010.
