College Football Rankings: Big Ten Representing Middle Ground In Final AP Top 25

The Associated Press has released the final iteration of the Top 25 Poll for the 2011-12 college football season. While the Minnesota Golden Gophers are not represented and, really, had no chance to, the rest of the conference represents well. The Big Ten occupies a spot in the top ten, and the two spots just outside of it. Wisconsin is sitting at No. 10, highest in the conference, while Michigan State is at No. 11 and just behind them is Michigan at No. 12. Later on down the list, Nebraska checks in at No. 24 to round it out for the Big Ten.

Outside of the conference, there's some changes as well. After claiming the National Title on Monday, Alabama takes the top spot to end the college football season with 55 first-place votes, while LSU slides into No. 2 with a single first-place vote. Oklahoma State occupies the No. 3 spot and actually received four first-place votes. Oregon and Arkansas round out the top five as Stanford and USC drop out of it.

That's about all that's pertinent for the Minnesota region - the Golden Gophers hadn't any chance of making it.
