Minnesota Vs. Penn State: Golden Gophers Win Another Big Ten Road Game, Beating Nittany Lions 80-66

The Minnesota Golden Gophers backed up their big win at Indiana earlier in the week by winning another Big Ten road game over the Penn State Nittany Lions, 80-66 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State was able to put together an early lead midway through the first half as Tim Frazier and Cammeron Woodyard took turns scoring for the Nittany Lions. But Minnesota slowed down the duo and took 33-31 lead to the half before taking control of the game after the break.

Guard Joe Coleman score six straight points to spark Minnesota to begin the second half as they pushed the lead to double digits and then hung on for the win in what turned out to be a free throw shooting contest. The teams combined to shoot 72 free throws, with Minnesota making 33 of 44 freebies while only shooting 38 field goals for the game.

Coleman led the way for Minnesota with 23 points including 13 of 14 from the free throw line, while Rodney Williams added 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Frazier scored 20 points for Penn State with Woodyard pitching in 22 points off the bench.

Minnesota upped their record to 14-5, 2-4 in the Big Ten while Penn State dropped to 1-5 in conference and 9-10 overall.
