The Timberwolves went more than six minutes in the fourth quarter without scoring a point, watching an 80-77 lead turn into an 86-80 deficit from which they did not come back.
While Kevin Love contributed 13 points and 14 rebounds, it was not his finest night, as the power forward shot just 3-16from the field for Minnesota. Meanwhile, Andrea Bargnani had 31 points and 9 rebounds to lead Toronto.
Minnesota's three-headed point guard attack played well, as Luke Ridnour shot 6-9 for 13 points, Jose Juan Barea shot 5-9 for 16 points and Ricky Rubio added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. But fellow Spanish point guard Jose Calderon also had a fine game for the Raptors, going for 14 points and 6 assists in 41 minutes.
The Timberwolves now return home right away for a date with the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday evening scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. eastern, before hitting the road again for a pair of games, first against the New Orleans Hornets and then the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14 respectively.
