Bracketology 2012: South Dakota State Is In The Mix

SB Nation's latest bracketology post was released on Tuesday morning. If the South Dakota State Jackrabbits can win Tuesday night's Summit League championship, it seems they're looking at being seeded lucky number 13 in in the March Madness tournament.

Bracketology is always an interesting topic, but rarely is it a factor when writing about teams from the Summit League. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits have never even made the NCAA Tournament, in fact, so there's been very little to talk about regarding where they might fall in when March Madness begins.

That all could change this year, however, as the Jackrabbits are just one win away from a Summit League championship. If St. Cloud, Minn., native Nate Wolters and his Jackrabbits teammates are able to defeat the Western Illinois Leathernecks, the big dance looms.

That's still an if, of course, and maybe a big one at that. SB Nation's Chris Dobbertean released his latest projection regarding how the NCAA Tournament seedings are lining up and, in a fun turn of events, South Dakota State was included as the No. 13 seed (and looking at a match-up with the Baylor Bears).

That's contingent on them winning Tuesday night's game against Western Illinois -- and history is on their side with two wins already against the Leathernecks this season. Dobbertean seems to think pretty highly of Minnesota's neighbors to the west as well

Either fourth-seeded Western Illinois or No. 2 seed South Dakota State will make the field for the first time, but the Jackrabbits have the advantage since the game is in Sioux Falls, just down the road from their Brookings campus. This is your chance to see one of the nation's most electric players, South Dakota State guard Nate Wolters (24 ppg).

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, the Minnesota Golden Gophers still aren't involved.
