U.S. Open 2012: Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk Tee Off With Lead On Day 3

U.S. Open leaders through two rounds of action Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk teed off on Saturday afternoon at Olympic Club in San Francisco, while no players had been able to threaten their lead prior to that point.

Woods, winner of two PGA tournaments this year but without a major in the past four years, was the odds-on favorite coming into this tournament, and if he gains any kind of separation Saturday, he'll be the hands-on favorite on Sunday.

That would provide some of the most interesting conversations in golf since Woods went on the down slide a few years ago with his injuries and tumultuous personal affairs.

Woods' tee shot went over to the left ruff, then chipped the ball out to the green on his second shot. Furyk, who has played the first six holes (apparently the toughest and most critical ones) better than anyone in this tournament, is having a tough time on the first hole as well.

David Toms came into Saturday tied for the lead with Woods and Furyk, but bogeyed the first hole to drop down to even par for the tournament.
