Brandon Roy to possibly return to the team that traded him on draft day?

The Minnesota Timberwolves could be getting ready to offer guard Brandon Roy a two-year contract, via 1500 ESPN's Darren Wolfson.

The three-time All-Star's career was thought to be over in December of 2011 when the Portland Trail Blazers used their amnesty clause on him and he announced his retirement. Roy has been training for a comeback in his hometown of Seattle.

According to two league sources, the Wolves plan on making the three-time All-Star a two-year contract offer. The money is unknown.

Wolves assistant coach Bill Bayno, who got to know Roy well when he worked on the Portland bench in two separate stints in the last few years, has been the driving force in Minnesota's interest. He's done enough to convince head coach Rick Adelman that the risk is worth it. The last hurdle, sources say, was to convince president of basketball operations David Kahn. That apparently recently happened.

It'll be interesting to see if anything gets done with this before Thursday night's draft.
