Twins Sign Dominican Shortstop Amaurys Minier

Stay connected for news and updates

The Minnesota Twins have officially signed Dominican baseball teen star Amaurys Minier today, as reported by Future Twins, who scout all of the teams top baseball prospects. Minier is a 16-year-old shortstop that was ranked 12th on Baseball America's top international prospects list. More on Minier after the jump...

Minier is a 6'2″, 200 lb shortstop who is a shortstop pretty much in name only at this point. Scouts are in near universal agreement that his frame will portend a move to third base, and his bat is what teams are really after.

Minier doesn't have good range on his throws just yet according to Future Twins and they don't expect him to, but he reportedly does have a really strong arm and they expect him to be able to make the transition from short stop to third base seamlessly.
