Stay connected for news and updates

If you're a Minnesota Timberwolves observer, you should be paying attention to Russia's basketball team in the 2012 Olympics to see new Wolves Alexey Shved and Andrei Kirilenko. The next chance to see them play is at 4:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday against China.

In their first game on Sunday, Kirilenko and Shved both put on a show against Great Britain in a 95-75 win. Kirilenko was dominant with 35 points on an absolutely ridiculous 14-for-17 from the field, plus four rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Shved finished with 16 on 6-for-11 shooting and had 13 assists, three more than the entire British squad. He also had six rebounds, three steals and a block.

The Chinese team lost 97-81 to Spain in its first game, but got a standout performance from Yi Jianlian. The forward who spent 2011-2012 with the Dallas Mavericks scored 30 points on 13-for-19 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds while battling the Spanish frontline of Serge Ibaka, Pau Gasol and Marc Gasol.
