Despite a day where the United States brought home four golds and one silver medal, the Americans remain in a tie with China for the overall medal lead after four days of the 2012 Summer Games.

Two individual American gold medalists stood out on Tuesday in a big way, as women's swimmer Allison Schmitt reigned supreme in the 200m freestyle with an Olympic Record time of 1:53.61, while U.S. shooter Vincent Hancock narrowly edged competition in the men's skeet event. Schmitt, who has qualifying in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Wednesday, has now claimed three of the United States' 23 total medals thus far after four days of competition.
