Wimbledon 2012: Roger Federer Defeats Novak Djokovic In Semifinal

Roger Federer was the first player to key his way into the finals at Wimbledon. After a long day filled with occasional rain showers, Federer was able to stop his streak of finishing short of a finals appearance for two straight years after he beat Novak Djokovic in the semi 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Friday.

It was a close one, not only because Federer had struggled so mightily in matches earlier in the tournament before even getting to the semifinal to face No. 1 seeded Djokovic, but because the sets were kept so close right up until he was able to pull away at the end of the third set. The final set was no contest to punch Federer's ticket to the final match.

In this year's final, Federer will be playing to get the No. 1 ranking in the world back in his court as well as earn his seventh Wimbledon title and 17th major title overall.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take on Andy Murray next to determine the other finalist.
