The Minnesota Vikings could be making several trips to London in coming years.
The Minnesota Vikings are likely to play a regular season game in London for the next four years, according to a report by Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Vikings executive Lester Bagley would not confirm Murphy's sources, but he did confirm that the team has inquired into playing across the Atlantic:
"We've expressed an interest, and there's a process the league is following," Bagley said before Minnesota's preseason game against Buffalo on Friday, Aug. 17, at the Metrodome. "We'll see how it shakes out."
Minnesota has no requirement to play a certain number of games at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, which will be replaced with a new stadium by 2016. The Vikings are talking with the University of Minnesota to play a number of games at TCF Bank Stadium and should conclude a lease agreement this week. Any games at TCF Bank Stadium will require the Vikings to make renovations at team expense to meet NFL stadium requirements.
