Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Scott Diamond has been suspended for six games by Major League Baseball for throwing near the head of Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton in Thursday night's game. Here is a .GIF of the incident:
That pitch was perceived as a retaliation for Rangers pitcher Roy Oswalt plunking Twins catcher Joe Mauer. As the .GIF shows, though, Diamond may not have agreed with that interpretation.
For Diamond, the six games is truly equal to one game, as he'll miss only one start. That start was scheduled to be on Tuesday Aug. 28 at home vs. the Seattle Mariners, though that could be delayed if Diamond decides to appeal his suspension.
