Denard Span Injury: Twins Outfielder Day-To-Day With Shoulder Soreness

Stay connected for news and updates

Denard Span's shoulder injury is acting up again, causing the team to call the center fielder "day-to-day" and rest him for Tuesday night's loss.

Denard Span's shoulder continues to nag him, causing the Twins to term him "day-to-day" after missing Tuesday night's game.

This is the same shoulder issue that caused the outfielder to miss nine games earlier in the month after trying to make a sliding catch on Aug. 12. He had since returned to the lineup, but Tuesday night the shoulder acted up again, causing Minnesota to give him a rest in the loss.

"He's available if we need him but we're going to give him a day," he said. "I think he's just sore."

Although it's frustrating to see the center fielder continually missing games, it doesn't seem like this is a long-term injury, and the Twins most likely want to ensure that Span doesn't aggravate the injury and make it worse than it is. It's unclear whether Span will return to the lineup Wednesday against Seattle.
