The United States' overall lead int he medal count at the 2012 Summer Olympics was short-lived. China moved back in front on Sunday after 161 of 302 total events, taking a 61-60 overall lead and 30-28 lead in gold medals. A gold-silver finish in the women's 3-meter springboard diving contest continued China's dominance in that area and move the Chinese back in front.

The U.S. won a pair of gold medals on Sunday. Venus and Serena Williams winning in women's doubles tennis. Team USA member Sanya Richards-Ross narrowly edged the field for a win in the women's 400m event in track and field.
