London Olympics 2012: Minnesota's Chas Betts Eliminated In Greco-Roman Wrestling

Minnesota hasn't had many of its athletes perform well at the 2012 London Olympics, mostly riding on Susie Scanlan's performance to help the women's team epee to a bronze medal for the United States. One of its athletes, Chas Betts, who was a graduate from the St. Michael-Albertville High School, was eliminated on Monday from the Greco-Roman wrestling Round of 16.

Betts lost to Cuba's Pablo Shorey Hernandez, and was officially eliminated form the 185-pound competition when Shorey Hernandez lost in the quarterfinals. The Pioneer Press had a quote from Betts in which he said the experience at the Olympics was "amazing and kind of unreal," and followed up by saying he took a lot from this experience, even if he didn't take a medal.

Betts was the U.S. representative in the Greco-Roman 84kg by winning the 2012 Olympic Team Trials with a win over Jordan Holm on April 22. Four years prior, Betts came in fourth at those same trials.
