The United States continued collecting medals at the 2012 London Olympics while maintaining their perch at the top of the medal count. The USA Women's soccer team added a gold medal to the count with their exciting 2-1 win over Japan.
Other highlights from Thursday's action for Team USA included earning a gold and silver medal in the men's decathlon. Favorite Ashton Eaton won the gold along with the title as "World's Greatest Athlete" while teammate Trey Hardee finished second to pick up the silver medal.
Also, in women's boxing, middleweight Claressa Shields won the USA team's first-ever gold medal in the event.
