Edina-product Mardy Fish will be in third-round action Saturday at the U.S. Open. The No. 23 seed is set to meet No. 16 Gilles Simon of France.
Fish took a five-set victory over unseeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the second round, 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-1, 6-2, to advance.
Men's top-seed Roger Federer is also in action, taking on No. 25 Fernando Verdasco of Spain at 10 a.m. ET at the tournament's center stage.
Other notable third-round matches include American Sloane Stephens facing No. 12-ranked and former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic at 7 p.m., and No. 4-seed Serena Williams taking on unseeded Russian Ekaterina Makarova after 1 p.m.
