The Gopher defense gave up a huge run to Evan Royster, allowing him to rumble for 29 yards into Minnesota territory, but they stiffened up from there, forcing the Nittany Lions to settle for a 49-yard field goal from kicker Colin Wagner.
With less than five minutes left in the third quarter, the Golden Gophers trail the Nittany Lions 24-14.
