Gophers At Wolverines: Robinson Makes It 14-0, Michigan

Stay connected for news and updates

The first drive for the Minnesota Golden Gophers went the wrong direction, thanks to a sack of Max Shortell and a false start penalty. Dan Orseske blasted a 64-yard punt to try to pin the Wolverines back, starting them out at their own 25-yard line.

Ultimately, it didn't matter.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson started the drive by looping a 28-yard pass to Stephen Hopkins to put the Wolverines in Minnesota territory, and the Gophers didn't put up much more resistance from there. Ultimately, on 3rd-and-3 at the Minnesota 9-yard line, Robinson called his own number, taking a quarterback draw into the end zone for Michigan's second touchdown of the afternoon. The drive went 75 yards in six plays, taking just 3:01 to accomplish.

We knew that Robinson's ridiculous athleticism would be hard for the Gophers to handle, but they have put up absolutely no resistance through Michigan's first two drives.

With six minutes left to go in the first quarter of play, the Michigan Wolverines lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the battle for the Little Brown Jug, 14-0.
