Gophers At Boilermakers: Minnesota Looks For Rebound Against Purdue

Two teams coming off of rather convincing losses will meet at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Saturday afternoon, as the Minnesota Golden Gophers will take to the road once again to take on the Purdue Boilermakers in Big Ten action.

Of course, to call Minnesota's 58-0 whooping at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines a "convincing win" for Michigan would discount exactly how dominant the Wolverines were, as they simply bullied Minnesota all over the field in the battle for the Little Brown Jug, posting the biggest shutout win in the history of the series. The Gophers were forced to start freshman Max Shortell against the Wolverines, due to an injury to quarterback MarQueis Gray, but that was the least of their problems at the Big House last week.

The Boilermakers lost to an in-state rival last Saturday, falling to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at home by a score of 38-10. The Boilermakers got pretty soundly thrashed by the Irish, allowing the Irish to rack up 551 yards of total offense, 287 of which came on the ground. The Boilermakers come into this contest against the Gophers with a record of 2-2, and this will be their Big Ten opener.

Kickoff for this one is scheduled for 11:00 AM Central time, and it will be televised on ESPN.
