The Minnesota Golden Gophers put together one of their longest and most impressive drives of the season in the second quarter against the Michigan State Spartans, but had to settle for a field goal.

Minnesota took over on their own 7-yard line with 9:29 left on the clock. They proceeded to methodically move the ball downfield, with quarterback MarQueis Gray completing five of six passes on the drive. Unfortunately, the one that fell incomplete was on a 3rd-and-4 from the Michigan State 10-yard line. It looked like Gray probably could have run for a first down, but his pass intended for Devin Crawford-Tufts in the end zone instead fell incomplete, and the Gophers were forced to settle for a 27-yard field goal by Jordan Wettstein to give them a 17-14 lead.

Michigan State is driving as we speak, as we approach the end of the first half of play in East Lansing, but for now the Gophers lead 17-14.
