2011 Bowl Projections: Eight Teams From Big Ten Projected To Go Bowling

For the latest on all things Big Ten football, be sure to check out Off Tackle Empire.

Nov 6, 2011 - The Minnesota Golden Gophers aren't going to be going bowling this year, barring a miraculous four-game winning streak to end the season and make them bowl eligible. However, there are plenty of Big Ten teams that will be going bowling this post-season, so let's take a look at where they might be headed.

We'll start with the folks from College Bowl Projections, whose job it is to. . .well, do college bowl projections. Strange, huh? As of now, they have eight of the Big Ten's twelve teams projected to be playing post-season bowl games. Let's look at them in chronological order.

December 27

Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl - Illinois Fighting Illini vs Ohio Bobcats

December 30

Insight Bowl - Ohio State Buckeyes vs Texas A&M Aggies

December 31

Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas - Michigan Wolverines vs Baylor Bears

January 2

TicketCity Bowl - Iowa Hawkeyes vs Syracuse Orange
Outback Bowl - Penn State Nittany Lions vs South Carolina Gamecocks
Capital One Bowl - Michigan State Spartans vs Georgia Bulldogs
Gator Bowl - Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Florida Gators
Rose Bowl - Wisconsin Badgers vs Oregon Ducks

With all of the craziness of the Big Ten regular season thus far, it's not surprising that the Big Ten is down to having just one team in a BCS bowl game at this point. The folks at College Bowl Projections are projecting the Wisconsin Badgers to win the Big Ten, based on this. Will they? Will other prognosticators agree with them? We'll have to find out.
