2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament: Badgers Reach Sweet 16 With 70-65 Victory

Jacob Pullen tried as hard as he could, and almost single-handedly managed to get Kansas State into the Sweet 16, but his monstrous effort wasn't enough, as his Wildcats fell to the Wisconsin Badgers, 70-65, in Southeast Regional play in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Pullen scored 38 of the Wildcats' 65 points on the evening, but saw his attempt at a game-tying three-pointer as time was winding down blocked by Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor. Josh Gasser then hit two free throws to seal it.

Jon Leuer scored 19 points to lead the Badgers, and Keaton Nankivil chipped in with 12 points, as did Taylor. For Kansas State, Curtis Kelly was the only other Wildcat to score in double figures, as he put in 11.

Wisconsin now moves on to a Sweet 16 match-up with a highly unlikely opponent, the Butler Bulldogs. The Bulldogs pull off the biggest upset of the tournament earlier in the afternoon, as they knocked off the Southeast Region's number one seed, the Pittsburgh Panthers, by a score of 71-70.
