Gophers Storm Back To Tie Aggies At Seven

After getting a stop of the New Mexico State Aggies, the Minnesota Golden Gophers put together a very impressive drive, and are now tied with the Aggies at seven in the home opener of the 2011 season.

The Gophers took over at their own 12-yard line after stopping the Aggies, and MarQueis Gray put on a show. Gray was very impressive on the drive, completing four of six pass attempts on the drive, finding three different receivers in the process. Gray completed a pass to Collin McGarry for seven yards on a third down to keep the drive alive, and found Da'Jon McKnight twice for 30 yards, and Brandon Green for a 17-yard completion.

After a personal foul penalty on New Mexico State moved Minnesota down to the Aggies' 4-yard line, the Gophers gave the ball to freshman Lamonte Edwards, and the product of Woodbury, Minnesota powered into the end zone for his first ever collegiate touchdown. Chris Hawthorne hit the extra point, and the Gophers had tied the game at 7.

We are awaiting the start of the second quarter in Minneapolis, with the Gophers currently holding the football at the New Mexico State 37. With one quarter of play in the books, the Gophers and Aggies are tied at 7.
