NM State Goes 94 Yards To Take Commanding Lead

The Gophers seemed to have momentum as the first half ended and moved into the third quarter. They had scored right before the end of the half, and Max Shortell gave the Gophers a brief spark on the opening drive.

Yeah, that’s pretty much over.

After that first drive, which ended in a missed field goal, the Gophers went three and out on their next two possessions, and while the defense played well for awhile, at the end of the quarter New Mexico State went on a long, 94 yard drive and scored another touchdown.

The Gophers were very magnanimous to the Aggies on that drive, as Troy Stoudermire was flagged for a 15 yard penalty for a late hit out of bounds, and not to be outdone, Kim Royston was flagged for pass interference which set NM State up on the 2 yard line.

Two plays later, RB Robert Clay went around right end and snuck in just inside the pylon.

There is only 15:00 left for the Gophers to avoid a huge, Brewsterian upset.
