Minnesota Vs. Northwestern: John Shurna Becomes All-Time Leading Scorer For Wildcats

Northwestern's John Shurna needed just 17 points on Saturday night against Minnesota to become the school's all-time leading scorer in front of his home crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Shurna scored 12 points in the first half, leaving him just five shy of breaking the record of 1,900 points, which was set on March 6, 1976 by Billy McKinney against Michigan. Shurna was all but guaranteed to break the record in the second half, as the senior averages a little over 20 points per game.

Shurna broke the record midway through the second half when he hit a three-pointer to give the Wildcats a 10-point lead. You can check it out here on the Big Ten Network's website.
