Minnesota Among Schools To Offer Tyus Jones Scholarships

Sophomore point guard Tyus Jones might be the best point guard in high school basketball nationwide right now, and he's already getting the attention of a lot of big schools with his big play even though he won't be going to play for any of them until 2014. Early on in the CBSSports rankings he's being considered the fourth best player in the class of 2014, and the best PG.

Of course, the Minnesota Golden Gophers are understandably pushing hard to get the young star onto their team in 2014.

Already arguably the best point guard in the nation, he's still got two years to grow into an even better all around player; he would be a superstar from the state to help revitalize the Gophers program which has middled the past several seasons. Jones has indeed chosen Minnesota as one of the first places he's visited, along with Michigan State and Ohio State so far. He's got plenty more offers to look at, though; big schools like Arizona, Duke and Baylor have all offered scholarships to Jones early on.

For his part, Jones hasn't decided yet and doesn't seem anywhere near a final decision, understandable considering the length of time he's still got to take his pick:

"I'm looking at academics, coaching, style of play," Jones said. "And there's a lot of little things that go into it."
