Minnesota WR Andre McDonald landed in a hospital recently with a heart problem. The prized in-state recruit has yet to see the field this season due to a leg injury, and potentially has a larger issue on his hands now.
University of Minnesota freshman wide receiver Andre McDonald has been hospitalized with a heart problem, according to a football team spokesman (via the Minnesota Daily). McDonald underwent tests on Thursday afternoon, the results of which are currently unknown.
McDonald has yet to play this season, as he sat out the first two games with a leg injury that he suffered prior to the Gophers' season-opener against New Hampshire. According to head coach Jerry Kill, McDonald had an infection in his leg that stemmed from a case of turf burn.
McDonald is a 6'2, 200-pound four-star recruit from Minnetonka, Minn. Coming out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 37 wide receiver in the country, according to ESPN's Recruiting Nation.
