Huskies beat Gophers 5-3; deny Lucia 600th win

Turnovers cost the Gophers in their WCHA opener Friday and Michigan Tech made Minnesota pay in a 5-2 win. Blake Pietila scored twice for the Huskies as Michigan Tech denied head coach Don Lucia his 600th win. Both teams play tomorrow.

Bjugstad honored by WCHA

For the second time in his collegiate career, Gopher forward Nick Bjugstad was honored by the WCHA as the Offensive Player of the Week. The junior scored two goals and added an assist in last weekend's sweep over Michigan State.

Gophers sweep Spartans in college hockey opener

Minnesota earned their first two-game sweep of the season defeating Michigan State 7-1 Saturday night. The Gophers scored 7 goals by 7 different players while freshman goalie Adam Wilcox made 10 saves for his first collegiate win.
