Wolves Look To String Together Three Consecutive Wins For First Time This Season

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t been able to win more than two games in a row all season — which isn’t good considering that it’s the 67th game of the season — but that could change tonight as they play the Golden State Warriors on the road.

The Wolves (17-50) have won their last two games by at least 20 points after blowing out the Pacers 101-75 in the game that Kevin Love broke the double-double streak before defeating the Utah Jazz 122-101 on Friday night. This led center Darko Milicic to say — jokingly — that the Wolves could win the rest of their games this season by 20 points.

That won’t be an easy goal tonight, however, as Golden State (29-36) was down 21 points in their last game against the Orlando Magic before coming back by hitting a ridiculous 21 three-pointers. Monta Ellis, averaging 25.0 points per game, went a career-best 7-of-9 from beyond the arc to pace the Warriors with 39 points and 11 assists.

It also doesn’t help that the Wolves have struggled recently against the Warriors so far this season. Before the victory over Golden State last month — led by Kevin Love’s 37 points and 23 rebounds — Minnesota had lost five straight to the Warriors by an average of 15.0 points. Love is averaging 23.7 points and 19.6 rebounds against the Warriors this season and will be looking for his 54th consecutive double-double tonight.
