2011 NBA Mock Draft: Minnesota Timberwolves Now Projected To Take Derrick Williams Following Lottery

2011 NBA mock drafts now project the Minnesota Timberwolves to select Arizona Wildcats forward Derrick Williams following their drop to the second pick after the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night.

Williams, a 6-foot-8 player who could play both forward positions in the NBA, averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds in 38 games during his sophomore season in Tuscon, Ariz., is projected to be taking his talents to Minnesota according to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express.

With the Wolves second pick in the first round (20th overall), Jimmer Fredette from the BYU Cougars is the option according to Givony. Earlier it seemed that pick wouldn't seem to be the smart choice, but now taking the best point guard available -- especially if he can shoot -- is probably the best option for Kahn and Co. with their second pick.

It's still very early in the process as the NBA Draft date isn't until June 23, but the projections will start coming fast and furious over the course of the next month.
