Ricky Rubio Injury: Timberwolves hoping he clears hurdles soon

Stay connected for news and updates

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is optimistic that he'll be able to progress quickly through the goals given to him by president of basketball operations David Kahn recently, as Ray Richardson of the Pioneer Press writes. Rubio's recovery is expected to keep him out for at least the first two weeks of the season.

On Monday, Kahn told reporters at the team's media event that, "Ricky needs to regain his speed, his change of direction and change of pace. Barring any setbacks, we'll be playing the vast majority of the season with him."

Rubio tore his ACL during a collision with Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant on March 9, which has put him on the sidelines ever since. He's note expected to participate in the team's training camp, which began on Tuesday, but he will be able to do, "light shooting and jogging on a treadmill," while his teammates prepare for the start of the season.
