Timberwolves vs. Nets final score: Minnesota completes 22-point comeback, wins 107-96

Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE

The Minnesota Timberwolves were down 22 points in the third quarter, but stormed back to beat the Brooklyn Nets, 107-96.

The Minnesota Timberwolves erased a 22-point second-half deficit to beat the Brooklyn Nets, 107-96, at the new Barclays Center on Monday night.

Brooklyn got out to a quick start and led by 15 at halftime, eventually pushing that lead to 22 early in the third quarter. But the Nets' offense began to crumble, allowing Minnesota back into the game. The Wolves caught the Nets at 92 with 6:29 left, and the two teams battled to a 96-96 tie before the Wolves finished the game on an 11-0 run.

Nikola Pekovic led the Wolves with 21 points and six rebounds on 9-of-14 shooting. Andrei Kirilenko notched a double-double, with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Wolves' bench provided a huge spark, with Chase Budinger, Dante Cunningham and Alexey Shved all reaching double figures. Shved's runner in the lane with 2:35 left proved to be the game-winner.

Joe Johnson led the Nets with 19 points in the loss. Deron Williams added 18 points and 13 assists. Keith Bogans scored nine points in place of injured starter Gerald Wallace, who sat out with an ankle sprain.
