Luke Ridnour Injury: Timberwolves Point Guard The Latest In Stream Of Injuries

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Luke Ridnour became the latest victim to the plague of injuries infecting the team.

Playing increased minutes in the absence of Ricky Rubio, whose season ended when he blew out his knee on March 9, Ridnour sprained his ankle late in the third quarter of Minnesota's 116-108 Monday night loss to the Sacramento Kings.

He is expected to miss Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors, according to the Star Tribune.

The Wolves' other point guard, J.J. Barea, is already battling a thigh injury. He is expected back Wednesday, but his return doesn't figure to add any depth.

Along with Rubio, Ridnour and Barea, the other guard on the Wolves' roster is Malcolm Lee, a rookie from UCLA. Lee has played in just nine games this season and is averaging 2.6 points.

Oh, and Michael Beasley is still dealing with a toe injury.

Timberwolves Vs. Kings Final Score: Minnesota Can't Stop Sacramento In 116-108 Loss

The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped five games below .500 for the first time this season, losing on the road to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night, 116-108.

The Timberwolves trimmed the deficit to four in the final minute of the fourth, but the Kings were too much and hit their free throws in the end much like they had been hitting their shots all night. They finished the game hitting over 50-percent from the floor and knocking down 23 of 28 free throws in the game.

Tyreke Evans was three assists away from a triple-double, leading the Kings with 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Brad Miller, who is retiring after the season, started at center for the T-Wolves and had 11 points and six assists in almost 22 minutes. Miller played five-plus seasons with the Kings. Kevin Love had a team-high 23 points, but only seven rebounds.

Timberwolves Vs. Kings Score Update: Minnesota Down 7 At Half, 65-58

In a high scoring affair through 24 minutes, the Minnesota Timberwolves are trailing the Sacramento Kings by seven, 65-58.

The Timberwolves gave the start at center to Brad Miller, who is retiring after this season to focus on his hunting shows. Miller played over five seasons and played some of his best basketball with the Kings and it was like a blast from the past on Monday night in his first start of the season -- he leads the T-Wolves with 11 points and has hit all three of his three-point attempts in 12-plus minutes of action.

The Timberwolves couldn't stop the Kings, though, as they shot 65-percent. Jimmer Fredette leads all scorers with 14 points off the bench.

Timberwolves Vs. Kings: Darko Milicic Out, Nikola Pekovic Questionable For Minnesota

Minnesota Timberwolves reserve center Darko Milicic did not make the trip West and though Nikola Pekovic travelled with the team, he did not play on Sunday and is questionable for Monday night's game against the Sacramento Kings, according to Jerry Zgoda of The Star Tribune.

Milicic has been banished to Rick Adelman's dog house, playing just once in the last 12 games. He is out with what the team is calling a strained right hamstring. Pekovic has been bothered by bone spurs in his right ankle. Via Zgoda:

Pekovic worked out before Sunday's game -- his first court work in more than a week because of bone spurs on his right ankle -- but did not play.

He said he is hopeful he can play Monday at Sacramento, but coach Rick Adelman wasn't optimistic about that.
