The Minnesota Timberwolves closed the 2011-2012 NBA season with a 131-102 loss to the Denver Nuggets Thursday night at Target Center.
Jose Barea led all scorers with 20 points, but seven Nuggets finished in double figures as Denver shot a whopping 62.9 percent from the floor (56-for-89). JaVale McGee led the Nuggets with 19 points, while Arron Afflalo recorded 18 points and Danilo Gallinari added 17 points.
With the loss, the Timberwolves end the 2011-2012 season with a record of 26-40, the ninth-worst in the NBA. The Nuggets finished the season with a 38-28 record. They secured the sixth seed in the Western Conference and will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the verge of closing the 2011-2012 NBA regular season with their 40th loss as they trail the Denver Nuggets 61-42 at halftime.
Jose Barea leads the Timberwolves with 15 points, while Nikola Pekovic has added ten points for Minnesota. However, the Nuggets have shot 57.8 percent from the field in the first half. Danilo Galinari leads all Denver scorers with 13 points, while JaVale McGee has added 12 points and Ty Lawson has chipped in with 10.
A win tonight would enable the Nuggets to finish ten games above .500 at 38-28. The Timberwolves would finish with the 4th worst record in the Western Conference and the 9th-worst record in the NBA.
