Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves has been named to the 2011-12 All-NBA Second Team. For more on the Timberwolves, head on over to Canis Hoopus.
We're approaching the beginning of the 2012 NBA Playoff Finals and as such, many season awards are being given out. We recently learned the NBA's All-Defense team, but the bigger picture - the All-NBA team, is the big headline. Art Garcia had a Tweet on Thursday with the first, second and third All-NBA Team.
As he says, the first team is Kevin Durant of the Thunder, LeBron James of the Heat, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Chris Paul of the Clippers, and Dwight Howard of the Magic. The second team is where it gets interesting for Minnesota, as Kevin Love is representing the Timberwolves. He'll join Blake Griffin of the Clippers, Andrew Bynum of the Lakers, Tony Parker of the Spurs and , and Russell Westbrook of the Thunder.
That's some good company for Love, who averaged a career-high and single season franchise-record 26 points per game (fourth in the NBA), and hauled in 13.3 rebounds per game (second in the NBA). He had 48 double-doubles this season and finished second in minutes played.
The All-NBA Teams are chosen by a panel of 120 sportswriters and broadcasters in the USA and Canada. The third team is comprised of Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler, Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo.
