The Minnesota Timberwolves are close to finalizing a trade with the Memphis Grizzles for Dante Cunningham.
According to a report filed by ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, the Minnesota Timberwolves have come to terms on a verbal agreement with the Memphis Grizzles to trade guard Wayne Ellington for forward Daunte Cunningham, citing sources close to the situation.
The finalized deal is expected to be announced in the near future after the teams submit paperwork to the NBA for approval.
Cunningham will help balance out the Timberwolves roster and is a player that the team was impressed by in the past.
Versatile enough to play both forward positions, Cunningham is an above-average defender. He made a very favorable in-person impression on the Wolves in March when he scored 13 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in a Grizzlies win. He played power forward in that game.
The 25-year old is set to make a little over $2 million in 2012-13 and has a team option for 2013-14.
