Joe Mauer took a foul ball to the knee on Sunday and is now questionable for Monday's game against the LA Angels.
On Sunday, Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer had a scare as a foul ball smacked the inside of his left knee, knocking him to the ground in pain. Mauer was able to finish the game -- he has played every single inning of every single game so far this season for the Twins -- but is now in doubt for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels.
He finished the 7-4 victory, but he wasn't sure about his status for Monday. "Pretty sore right now," he said. "I got it right in the good spot. It had to be a getaway day with the [cabin] pressure."
Mauer is planning on icing the knee and getting it tested on Monday to see if he could play the game against LA. If he's not available to play all nine innings as catcher because of the strain on his knee he could also move over to designated hitter or first base to make things easier for himself.
