Cole De Vries made his MLB debut for the Twins and finished with a decent final line, but was not helped by two Minnesota errors. De Vries only gave up three earned runs -- all on solo home runs, including back-to-back jacks in that six-run sixth inning -- and struck out four in five innings, but the White Sox were also given three unearned runs due to the errors.
Brian Duensing was summoned for De Vries in the sixth, but he loaded the bases after getting the first out and then gave up a grand salami to Alejandro De Aza to all but put the game out of reach at that point, 10-5.
Morneau did his best to bring the Twins back, homering in the seventh and ninth innings, but the Twins would score no more and lose 11-8.
Joe Mauer also homered and had two hits in the loss.
The Twins will start a three-game series with the Tigers on Friday night.
