This is the first series loss the Twins have experienced in the month of June.
Both teams were able to get on the board in the second inning, but a three-run shot by Jim Thome in the third inning gave the Phillies all the separation they needed from the Twins.
Joe Blanton was the winning pitcher for the Phillies, who improved his record to 6-6 with the victory. Twins pitcher Scott Diamond dropped to 5-2 in the losing effort.
