Minnesota will host the AL Central leading White Sox on Monday, and will likely be the first team to see Kevin Youkilis in a White Sox uniform.
The Chicago White Sox are heading to Minnesota to face the Twins with a new toy in their arsenal. They completed a trade for Kevin Youkilis on Sunday with the Boston Red Sox, hoping to improve their fortunes at third base. The White Sox are already in the lead in their division, and they're hoping Youkilis will be the final piece to the puzzle in order to pull away from the Indians, currently only a half game behind Chicago.
Meanwhile, the Twins are still floundering at 8.5 games back, good for last place in the AL Central and in need of more runs like they got in early June to push themselves back up.
Assuming that he makes his debut for the Sox on Monday night, they're hoping that Youkilis will be able to get a strong start against one of Minnesota's weakest pitchers, Francisco Liriano. It's been a dismal season for Liriano so far, with a 1-7 record and 5.74 ERA.
Chicago will send out Jake Peavy for game one. Peavy is an impressive 6-3 on the year with a 2.74 ERA and a whopping 83 strikeouts to only 23 walks.
The game will be at Target Field at 8:10 p.m. ET.
