Minnesota Twins Expected To Call Up Matt Carson For Seattle Mariners Series

The Minnesota Twins made room on their roster for another player when shuffling their pitching rotation earlier this week, but took their time in picking the replacement. The initial speculation was that it'd be Chris Parmelee, but it's apparently some new blood in Matt Carson.

Carson, 31, was hitting .277 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs this season for Triple-A Rochester. The Twins confirmed the move, according to the Pioneer Press, but haven't announced it because they still have to make room for him on the roster.

Carson cannot officially join the team until Minnesota makes room for him on their 40-man roster. That could be done by removing a player, or by transferring a player from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list, which could be done easily with closer Matt Capps, who hasn't thrown since July 16 because of inflammation in his rotator cuff.

The move is expected before Friday's series opener in Seattle against the Mariners.
