Joe Mauer has a chance to set the all-time Twins record for games played at catcher on Monday night.
Todd Willis of MLB.com reports that Mauer played first base on Sunday, opening up the possibility for him to break the record in front of his home fans at Target Field.
The Twins star catcher is in his eighth season as a major leaguer. He is currently hitting .312 with eight home runs and 66 RBI. Mauer's .407 on-base percentage ties him for the American League lead with Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers. For his career, Mauer was won three batting titles, three Gold Glove awards, four Silver Slugger awards, and was selected as the 2009 AL MVP.
